This assignment split our studio into groups of three, all assigned to a different starting point along the top of a large local hill. From our starting point, my group and I measured out 100 feet down the slope using two feet intervals marked by flags. For each interval we measured the vertical drop as well a the height of the vegetation we were immersed in. The end goal of this assignment was for each member of every team to produce a transect drawing that captured the feeling and character of the site, while also displaying information about the site itself.  Our team decided to display the presence of different species that we identified during our time on the site, not only to aid ourselves in our plant identification skills, but to also make sure everyone knew how miserable we were trekking through so much Buckthorn. I learned a lot about hand drawing from this assignment, mostly visual hierarchy and lineweight choice. I also honed my own hand graphic technique and skill, something that I had yet to solidify before this assignment.
